A prominent iGaming software provider, SOFTSWISS, has significantly expanded its presence in the African market by securing a controlling interest in Turfsport, a South African betting software company. This strategic move provides SOFTSWISS with a substantial advantage in a region brimming with potential.

Turfsport possesses extensive knowledge of the African market. They have established a strong standing by delivering comprehensive betting software solutions across various domains, including sports wagering, equestrian racing, and lottery games. With a client base of over 40 operators in South Africa already utilizing their software, they handle an impressive 1.5 billion wagers each year.

Christian Neuberger, the head of Turfsport, conveyed enthusiasm about the alliance, stating that they sought a global collaborator who could match their aspirations and ingenuity. They discovered that in SOFTSWISS, an organization recognized for its agile and progressive mindset.

This acquisition is mutually beneficial. Turfsport’s regional expertise, coupled with SOFTSWISS’s international experience, forms a formidable force poised to disrupt the market. Both entities are optimistic that this partnership will yield innovative offerings and services, empowering their customers to maintain a competitive advantage in the dynamic African market.

Through the purchase of Turfsport, Softswiss is making a strategic move to increase brand visibility within the African market, strengthening its already established footprint.

Andrey Starovoitov, Co-CEO of Softswiss, expressed his excitement: “Acquiring a thriving local enterprise is akin to gaining insider access to a new market – it’s the most effective and optimal approach. This agreement has been in development for some time, and I’m delighted it has come to fruition. This calculated action represents a significant stride for Softswiss in South Africa and the continent as a whole. Observing the developments in Latin America, we are confident that Africa is poised to be the next global expansion hub.”

He continued, “This goes beyond simply capturing market share; we’re obtaining invaluable knowledge accumulated over 35 years. We’re eager to integrate Turfsport’s strengths into our portfolio and persist in providing exceptional solutions for our collaborators.”

This announcement follows other major players setting their sights on South Africa. Light & Wonder entered the regulated iGaming market there last December through a collaboration with operator Hollywoodbets. Likewise, Optimove joined forces with Amelco in October 2023, preparing for its own expansion within South Africa. The region is brimming with activity, and Softswiss is demonstrably not one to be left behind.
