Betfred has solidified its connection to the globally renowned Epsom Derby by securing a fresh three-year contract to back the race. The wagering company will retain title sponsorship of the esteemed two-day gathering at Epsom Downs, which will be dubbed the Betfred Derby Festival, until a minimum of 2026. This expansion builds upon the original three-year pact that was unveiled earlier this year.
The collaboration between Betfred and the Jockey Club encompasses backing of supplementary races during the festival, raising the overall count of supported races to six over the two days.
Fred Done, the originator of Betfred, conveyed his eagerness about the prolonged alliance, affirming that the firm is elated to sustain its backing of the Betfred Derby Festival following a remarkable encounter at Epsom the previous year. He anticipates cooperating with Amy Starkey and her group to uphold the event’s standing as a top-tier fixture in international horse racing.
Amy Starkey, Head of Epsom Downs, reciprocated the enthusiasm, emphasizing the enduring bond between Betfred and the Jockey Club, which spans numerous notable racing occasions. She expressed pleasure in intensifying the partnership at Epsom Downs following the resounding triumph of the inaugural Betfred Derby in 2023.
Its widely known that Betfred has a passion for horse racing and has significantly backed British racing for a considerable period. We’re excited to collaborate with Fred and the entire group to truly champion some of the most prestigious flat races starting in 2024.
