The state of North Dakota is contemplating a new legislation that would permit individuals to wager on sporting events via the internet. This proposed law would modify the state’s fundamental document to authorize sports betting in all locations, not solely at gambling establishments and on indigenous territories.
The proposal was introduced by a coalition of legislators, primarily belonging to the Republican party. If approved, the populace will have the opportunity to cast their votes on the matter during the 2024 electoral cycle.
This is not the inaugural attempt by North Dakota to legalize sports wagering. A comparable law was unsuccessful in 2021.
Should this proposed change to the state’s constitution be accepted, wagering on sporting events online in North Dakota won’t commence before 2025, perhaps even later, as the state’s governing body must first establish regulations outlining how the amendment will be implemented.
