Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-ruling monarch in British history, having taken the throne on February 6, 1952, until her passing.

She passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and her eldest son has taken the throne as King Charles III.

Following the news of her passing, many organizations in the UK gaming market have issued tributes to the Queen. The monarch had a deep interest in horse racing, particularly breeding purebreds for the sport.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) issued a statement remembering the Queen’s connection to horse racing, as well as her patronage of the Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, and her leadership of Royal Ascot.

“The BHA offers its deepest condolences to the Royal Family and all those affected by this sad news,” said BHA Chair Joe Saumarez Smith. “Her Majesty’s dedication to and commitment to horse racing, and her public support of the sport, is immeasurable and undoubtedly helped to drive the sport’s popularity and attract a large following.”

A great many in the realm of equestrian sport felt a bond with the Queen due to her involvement in horse training and breeding. They will be disheartened by her demise.

Joining them are all those who participate in horse racing, who extend their sympathies to the Queen’s family on this day of grief.

The governing body for horse racing in Britain also declared that all races in the UK would be halted today (September 9th) as a gesture of respect.

The Arena Racing Company (ARC) also paid homage to the Queen’s enduring connection with horses and racing.

ARC Chairman David Thorpe stated: “Her Majesty’s existence was one of leadership, not just in British horseracing, but in the nation as a whole. We are deeply grieved by the news of her passing today, but I can express my own, and the sincere gratitude of everyone at Arena Racing Company, for her unwavering support and appreciation of British racing over many decades. May she rest in peace.”

London-based wagering firm William Hill also issued a statement saying: “We are saddened by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Queen Elizabeth II, our longest reigning sovereign, has been a steadfast and significant leader through times of great change.”
